About

Saint Alban’s is the Anglican church in Ashcroft BC, Canada, and is a part of the Anglican Church of Canada and member of the Anglican Parishes of the Central Interior (APCI) under Bishop Barbara Andrews.

The Saint Alban’s church building was built in 1891 to meet the needs of Anglicans who had previously held services in the Ashcroft Hotel Dining Room. It was the first church to be built in Ashcroft and is an important heritage site. Many of the furnishings in the building were made locally, while others such as the church bell and brass railings were collected from England and France. The church has been renovated several times: the last major renovation was in 1980. In 1957 the rectory was rebuilt after burning to the ground in 1954. The Parish Hall which was added in 1963 has enabled St. Alban’s to be of greater service to the community of Ashcroft.

Saint Alban’s has served the community of Ashcroft continually since 1891.Since then, St. Alban’s has been served by 26 clergy members. The most recent member of the clergy at St. Alban’s the Rev. Dan Hines. Unlike the other clergy at St. Alban’s in previous years, he is not a rector, but rather a Ministry Developer.  His success in this is found in the recognition of Martina Duncan and Angus Muir as postulants for ordination.  On Monday April 25th 2016 they will be Ordained as Transitional Deacons at St. Alban’s.

For the past few years St. Alban’s has been in the process of being developed along the lines of Local Collaborative Ministry.
